The Battle

At the break of dawn,
along with the sunlight,
the victory splashed on our lips.
We won
everything we
fought for.
Impatient, passionate
and compassionate love
was sheltering in me before:
a seed, which I failed
to make blossom
in someone else’s heart.
In my ears
was the buzz
of my worthless being,
in my heart
was the weariness
of waiting,
in my veins
was the cold
of a blizzard.
Then, I found myself standing
back to back with you
in the battlefield.
You existed in me,
I existed in you
since we were born.
That is why
we seemed familiar
to each other,
why we recognized
each other’s scent
the moment we inhaled,
why we joined hands,
fought life together,
standing back to back.
Love was what
we were living for;
what we faced death for.
Peace,
defense,
and compassion
compelled us to overcome
every obstacle
for the unknown worlds to come.
At the break of dawn,
along with the sunlight,
the victory splashed on our lips.
We sucked our lips,
till they cracked and bled
thirsty for the taste
of victory.
We joined hands.
Then looked around,
and saw the world,
we were going to face
as one.
