“Bell Jar” by Daria Andraczko

Have you ever felt like
sitting inside
of a bell jar
while the world flows away
in front of you?

Like you see everything
in fast forward,
and trying so hard
to get outside,
yet cannot break through.

You feel
you’re getting old,
day by day, hour by hour,
the weight of time
collapses on your shoulders.

It’s like everyone you know
or you don’t know
finds a way to move on
while you’re trapped
behind the glass.

You change clothes,
you change houses,
you change cities,
you change bodies,
even identities.

But in the end,
you see you’d brought
your damn bell jar
you’ve been in for so long
with you too.
